I tried to take the boat to Dunavăţu de Jos, without luck. Got the bike on the first boat, but the boat going in my direction had to be departed on the other side and there was no way to get the bike there. Luckily got some help to push it back up the ramp 😀

Hotel in Tulcea.

Visiting the city of Tulcea

Danube Delta by boat – lots of pelicans

Wild camping in the Danube Delta.

Nice lunch on the road. In Romanian restaurants you will see “meniu de post” on the menu which means vegan food. It has something to do with the Orthodox church and not eating animal products at specific times.

Street market with fruits and vegtables.

On the boat trip through the Danube Delta I met a couple from France. They invited me to come to the place of their brother Adrian in Corbu. He offered me a room to stay for a couple of days!

Vegan dinner in Brasov

Fountain in the center of Brasov

Welcome to Dracula’s castle @ Bran

Great raw vegan pie bakery in Brasov. I had a nice chat with the owner. His wife studied veganism in America and aftherwards they opened this bakery. Eating culture in Romania seemed to be more meat oriented according te me. Upon asking he told me that most of their customers are tourists, but he thinks veganism will grow a lot in Romania over the coming years.

The Transfăgărășan is the best road in the world according to TopGear. Later I learned from a fellow motorcycle traveller, at the campsite in Carta, that the Transalpina is even better. So next day took a 300 km detour to ride that as welll!

Palinka, this stuff probably makes you blind if you drink to much. It tasted awfull, but got me nice and warm again afther riding the Transfăgărășan back in the rain. It was a nice gift from the Dutch owners of the campsite.
